Holter & Event Monitoring
Holter & Event Monitoring
A Holter or event monitor is a small recorder you wear at home. It captures the heart's rhythm continuously, so intermittent problems that a brief in-office EKG would miss can be identified.
When It Is Typically Used
- Palpitations — Symptoms that come and go are captured as they happen.
- Dizziness or Fainting — Continuous recording can link symptoms to a rhythm change.
- Rhythm Follow-Up — Monitoring shows whether a known arrhythmia is controlled.
Working Alongside Other On-Site Services
Rhythm monitoring is the cardiac counterpart to the practice's ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
What to Expect
You wear the monitor during normal daily activity and keep a short diary of any symptoms. Your provider reviews the recording afterward.
