Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Musculoskeletal ultrasound images soft tissue that X-ray cannot show, and it does so in real time, so a joint can be examined while it moves.
When It Is Typically Used
- Joint and Tendon Pain — Imaging distinguishes inflammation from a structural tear.
- Soft-Tissue Injury — Ultrasound assesses muscles, tendons, and bursae directly.
- Guided Follow-Up — Findings guide whether rest, therapy, or referral is the right next step.
Working Alongside Other On-Site Services
Because it is done on site, imaging can often be added to the visit where the problem is first described.
What to Expect
The exam is painless and involves gel and a handheld probe. You may be asked to move the joint during the scan.
