Spirometry & Pulmonary Function Testing

Spirometry measures how much air you can move and how quickly, which helps identify asthma, COPD, and other conditions that narrow the airways.

When It Is Typically Used

  • Asthma — Asthma is one of the conditions the practice screens for during preventive care.
  • Chronic Cough or Breathlessness — Testing helps distinguish airway disease from other causes.
  • Treatment Response — Repeat testing shows whether an inhaler or other treatment is working.

Working Alongside Other On-Site Services

Spirometry results are read alongside your history, exam, and any imaging performed on site.

What to Expect

You breathe into a mouthpiece and follow simple coaching from staff. The test takes a few minutes and is repeated for accuracy.
